Choose an agent’s knowledge

Control semantic-search sources without confusing them with project files.

Based on current source Evidence & limitations

Agent knowledge controls and semantic scope source-backed; live attachment/retrieval/deletion untested. This guide is a review draft; check access and saved results in your current workspace.

On this page

An agent’s knowledge configuration and the project’s Data list serve different purposes. A resource linked to a project is not automatically proof that it is selected for that agent’s semantic search.

The procedures below follow the current source. The live Member account could not inspect or change the knowledge configuration.

Open the knowledge settings

Open the agent’s settings and choose Knowledge when your role allows it. If the panel says Agent unavailable or the page says No Access, resolve the specific access issue before continuing.

Choose the search scope

The source offers:

  • All space sources: Semantic search can use searchable documents available in the space.
  • Selected sources: Semantic search is restricted to attached sources.

Choosing the scope updates the agent immediately. Review the intended source set before making the choice.

This scope describes semantic search. It is not a blanket restriction on every other tool the agent can use, and it does not establish data-retention behavior.

Add a source

Under attached sources, the controls include Upload files, Add URL, Add notes, and Choose from library.

  1. Choose the input type for your material.
  2. Complete the fields shown for the file, website, or notes.
  3. Check the source status after submission.
  4. Wait for it to become usable before relying on it in a task.

The source defines statuses including Ready, Processing, Indexing, Failed, and Disabled. A submitted source is not necessarily ready for retrieval immediately.

Enable, disable, or detach

Use Enable source or Disable source for an attached source when you want to change its use. Removal distinguishes Detach from Delete fully.

Detach keeps the source in the content library. Delete fully carries a permanent-deletion warning for the document and its derived information. Read that warning and preserve anything needed before considering deletion.

Verify the agent used the intended material

Give a small test request that asks for a summary and source references. Check that the answer uses the correct material and marks missing information clearly before expanding the task.

For adding an existing knowledge resource to a project, use Project knowledge. Project association, search scope, and sharing permissions should be reviewed separately.
